Day 2 of 7
Guided tour of Wat Sene and Wat Xiengthong, the Royal Palace Museum and the Arts and Ethnology Centre. Drive to the Kuang Si Waterfall via ethnic villages (Ban Quay, Ban Ou), optional Free the Bears sanctuary, then sunset from Mount Phousi and the Night Market.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 3 of 7
Mekong River cruise to the Pak Ou Caves, stopping at Ban Xang Hai (rice-wine village). On return, visit Ban Phanom (hand weaving) and Ban Xang Khong.
Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Rice-wine tasting is a fun, optional photo stop. Confirm cruise timing in the dry season when river levels drop.
Day 4 of 7
10:30 transfer to the station; 11:48 train to Vang Vieng, arriving 12:40. Afternoon visit to the Tham Jang Cave and a long-tail boat ride on the Nam Song River.
Overnight in Vang Vieng.
Vang Vieng's karst scenery is a highlight; the short train hop is scenic and beats the winding road. Book train seats early.
Day 5 of 7
Morning by tuk-tuk or van to the Tham Poukham Cave and the Blue Lagoon, with a hike up Pha Ngern. 15:05 train to Vientiane, arriving 17:00.
Overnight in Vientiane.
The Blue Lagoon swim is popular; pack swimwear. Afternoon train keeps the morning free for the caves.
Day 6 of 7
City tour: Wat Sisaket, Wat Prakeo, the That Luang Stupa and the Patuxai Monument. Afternoon at the Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan), a riverside collection of ~200 Buddhist and Hindu sculptures.
Overnight in Vientiane.
Buddha Park is ~25 km from town near the Friendship Bridge; allow travel time. Quirky and photogenic, popular with families.

Free time to explore before your transfer to the airport for departure.
